Under CSISA Phase II, Nutrient Omission Plot Technique (NOPT) trials were conducted in eight districts of Bihar, ten districts of Uttar Pradesh and ten districts of Odisha. Partner institutions include Bihar Agriculture University (BAU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), Odisha.
Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) using seed-cum-fertilizer drill is an emerging rice establishment technique in India. How the two versions of DSR (zero-till & dust mulch) are comparable with the most common conventionally transplanted rice is less known. To fill the knowledge gap, CSISA in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) conducted on-farm agronomic trial in eastern India covering different agro-climatic zones. The trial was conducted with 10 KVKs continuously for five years starting from 2017. Across the years and geographies, it was done on 1,315 farmers' fields. The dataset formed the foundational evidence to inform initial policy handles and invites researchers to plan further research.
The objective of the Landscape Diagnostic Survey (LDS) for wheat is to bridge the existing data-gap around current production practices of wheat, and also to help in evidence-based planning. The LDS is designed in a way that data is collected from randomly selected farmers spread uniformly within a KVK (government extension system) domain/district. Data has been collected from farmers largest wheat plot for winter season of 2018. Survey questionnaire captures all production practices applied by farmers from land preparation to harvesting, including detailed sections on fertilizer use, weed control and irrigation application. Data is captured through electronically enabled Open Data Kit (ODK) tool on mobile phone or tablet.
This dataset contains observations from 478 households interviewed in 2011 and 2012 as part of a study titled “Market segmentation strategies for the dissemination of new agricultural production technologies in India.” The data were collected as part of a demand elicitation exercise and randomized control trial of custom-hired laser land leveling services provided to study participants. The study was conducted in the Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, and Deoria districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, India under the auspices of the Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia (CSISA). These three districts represent the regional spectrum of productivity in rice–wheat cropping systems. From each district, eight villages were randomly selected from a population of villages that met specific criteria set forth in the publications noted above. In addition to household data on the study participants, the dataset contains information on 926 plots cultivated by the study participants. Aside from household survey data, this study also contains data from village, social network, and monitoring surveys.
