This dataset contains information from variety calibration trials in four locations (BUK, Dambatta, Samaru and Lere). The data was collected from two separate sets of experiments. Experiment 1 was under full irrigation conducted from 23rd March to 20th June 2016 across the four locations. Experiment 2 was conducted in the rainy season with supplementary irrigation from 23rd June to 10th November 2016. The data presented here is for the dry season trials. Details can be requested.
This dataset contains information from on-farm validation trials conducted across 30 farmer fields in Local government areas of the northern guinea savanna AEZ in Kano. In each farmer field 10 plots (30 meter square each) were planted with a different combination of early maturing maize (10 varieties) under 3 different sowing densities. Each plot is a different combination of variety and sowing data. Data was collected on tops weight at anthesis, cob yield and stover yield.
The file contains on-farm and on-station agronomy data sets generated in Eastern and Southern Africa between 2010 and 2016 under the Sustainable Intensification of Maize-Legume systems in Eastern and Southern Africa (SIMLESA) project. The five countries involved were Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi and Mozambique. The experimental trials tested the performance of various Conservation Agriculture based maize-legume intercrops or rotations relative to the commonly practiced conventional till farmer practice systems. In most of the tested cropping systems, the conventional farmer practice involved tillage using the moldboard plough, the manual hand hoe or in some cases the ridge and furrow system. Conservation Agriculture involved reduced soil disturbance, provision of soil cover and the use of leguminous crop rotations or intercrops. Crop establishment techniques involved hoe prepared planting basins or stations, ripping using animal traction, direct seeding using the dibble stick, jab planters, or animal traction direct seeding equipment. Crop management in terms of planting date, plant populations, fertilization, pest and weed control, were similar across all tested cropping systems. Experiments were mostly run in the same locations over the seven year period in order to also get an understanding of how the systems performance changed over time. On-station data has 43 variables and 1114 observations On-farm data has 43 variables and 5242 observations

This dataset consists of community-level variables for 98 communities in northern Nigeria. These data are associated, by location, with the household-level data also collected under the APS (Agronomic Panel Survey) for the same areas and time period.
APS consists of household- and plot-level data on 336 households in maize-growing areas of Jimma and Bako zones. Soil analysis from 0-20 cm and 20-50 cm depths in 140 farmer fields from the in Southern Highlands, Eastern and Northern Zones of Tanzania in 2014/2015.
The dataset was obtained from farmers' fields covered during UAV flight mission at five locations (across 5 LGAs) within the TAMASA's focal states. The number of volunteer farmers are uneven across the LGAs. Five(5) quadrats of 2m X 2m were created within each farmers field for data collection. Data on NDVI, canopy cover and plant height was collected at 4WAS and 8WAS by Greenseeker, and NDVI at 4 and 8 WAS by UAV within the farmers field. At maturity grain yield was measured.
This data covers the crop aspect of the Agronomy Panel Survey (APS) implemented in 99 selected communities across 17 LGAs in 22 randomly selected 10km x 10 km sampling grids from Kano, Kaduna and Katsina States. The XLS file has tabs for Metadata, Variables, Data and Data history.
